I bought this about a year and a half ago after almost 8hr daily use at work and it is still going strong. Works with 8GB USB flash drives and regular SD cards. I record my favorite radio shows at home using streamripper and play them back at work using the USB drive.
2.) Big bang for the buck

I was doing an extensive search to find a resonably priced CD/MP3 player with a USB port and most importantly headphones. This one has them all, plus radio and memory card slot. I'm extremely happy with the purchase--it is very easy for my kids to handle the unit without any help. The unit offers enough volume to listen to book on CDs and decent effect for music(do not expect the effects of high-end boom box player). NAXA NX-250 packs more than enough goodies at this price-point for my purposes. Highly recommended.
Like other reviewers--I don't like the steep shipping and handling cost.

I received this radio quickly and love it. The radio reception is great, CD's play well and sound quality is good especially for the price. We wanted to use around the pool for parties and just listening music for pool time. Probably will order another one just to have around the house.

It is a great radio. Everything works perfect. I like the way I can get virtually all of my albums on one sd card. I can also play my Ipod and usb memory sticks on it and connect it to my Sirius radio. I use the earphone conection to connect it to my home stereo system with a 3.5mm to RCA adaptor I bought on Ebay for three bucks. Technology is amazing. I am an old guy and it just blows my mind.

Sometimes you are so pleased with a product you want others to know a great deal. These are my feelings about my recent purchase of the NAXA NX-250 portable MP3 player and radio. It plays regular cds and self-recorded MP3 discs with no problem. The dial is blue and easy to read day or night. It has both a USB port and card slot making it easy to increase data or music selections. My only wish is that the speakers were bigger, but they are adequate for single rooms or in a trailer. I did contact the company about a longer warrenty than 90 days, and they were most kind. They said if I had any problems to contact them and they would assist me with a solution. I wish this company great success. Their product is compact, durable and of great quality. I am looking forward to many years of use and enjoyment.

This is and performs exactly as mentioned. I use it for the USB and Media Card options mainly.
No problems at all, I really love it..!! The sound could be a bit better and yes I wish
it had digital tuning for the radio. But all in all I can't see how anyone would be
dissapointed with this boombox. It delivers everything as mentioned. The $$ was right
for a boombox like this. The radio does pick up a lot of FM stations as mentioned in
some of the other reviews. I have not had one glitch/problem at all in the 3 weeks I have had
this and I use it every day. The Media card I have been using (loading music on) is at least
6 years old and the radio played the music immediately after inserting the card and selectiing
the right function.

However just recently i went on amazon to buy a few more of these as gifts because i liked it so much. So, i ended up purchasing from an amazon vendor called Discount Jungle, and i waited weeks only to received a cancel order on the day of friends birthday!!! Discount Jungle will not honor your orders unless they are making a killing off ripping you off, I picked discount jungle because they offer the best price not knowing they would screw me over just because they weren't able to rip me off as much as they are used to ripping people off!!! 13.) Good little boombox that plays mp3 without ipod
Reviewed by: bowtie
Rating:
For the money, I am real happy with this boombox. I am glad I found this because it's hard to find a boombox that plays mp3s from a thumb drive. And I really did not want to buy one for an ipod.
Likes:
-I was able to play mp3 files off the cd and the usb thumb drive.
-The folder structure you create on the thumb drive stays intact so you can keep mp3 files of specific albums or genre in separate folders, then you can navigate to the folder that fits your mood. (I've seen other mp3 players that do not do this)
-The radio reception was decent and had better reception than other boomboxes I have tried such as Memorex MP4047 and the SONY ZSE5PK.
Dislikes:
-The volume is not as loud as I would like, but sufficient.
-The LCD text, which is bright and easy to read btw, only turns on for cd/usb and not for the radio because the radio is tuned via analog dial on the top. No big deal to me.
-The cd keeps spinning for quite a while after you turn off the player so you will have to be careful when removing the cd after playing otherwise you risk scratching the cd.
To sum it up. I am very happy with this boombox. And for 25 bucks, I give it 5 stars but I would not pay more than 50 for it. I would recommend it as an inexpensive stereo for a garage, office, kitchen, etc...

Product listed as NAXA but box and on-product name was UNIREX. Exactly as advertised. Radio reception (FM stereo) is excellent, but then I live within a few miles of many, many radio/tv antenna towers. Works fine with mp3 cd's (my main reason for purchase) and with micro cruzer and SD memory cards. Also plays regular audio cd's just fine. Sound quality is good but not loud. I would be interested in a larger unit that has bigger speakers but haven't found one on Amazon that has the same other features as this unit...I do have an older Sony unit that will not play mp3 cd's that has much bigger sound. With regular audio cd's that I have mixed, unit does not show title, artist, album info...but it does with mp3 cd's and with memory card and USB apps. I'm quite satisfied with the product so far...especially considering the price was quite reasonable.
16.) First Impressions - Naxa NX-250

First Impressions:
What I like:
* Solid Feel
* Lots of features - Aux in, USB Memory Key/SD/MMC slots, CD - MP3 player, Headphone out Jack, can use battery power.
What I wish it had, could have etc:
* More than a 90 day warranty
* A remote would be super (but, let's be reasonable, it's a low cost box)
* Better controls to allow a bit more bass, the EQ doesn't really allow much of a change in sound.
* A better Manual (With descriptions on how it sorts/prioritizes MP3 Playlist).
* More power (they seem to have trimmed the Volume a bit, probably a good idea in order to not blow out the speakers)
What I don't like:
* Not enough BASS
* The $15+ shipping charge
I originally bought a low end Sony (CFD-S01CD), while it did have the cassette player and had better sound, it didn't have near the capabilities of the NAXA NX-250. Of course, the NAXA is a new name and therefore its quality (to me) is unknown as I have no personal experience with the brand. If it lasts and can hold up under the rigors of camping and light use at home, I'll be satisfied.
17.) PLENTY FEATURES, GOOD BUY FOR THE PRICE
Reviewed by: konsole Foxboro, MA
Rating:
With the ability to play mp3-cd, usb flash drives, and SD cards, you can't expect to pay any less for this unit being at only about $40. Anything cheaper and your looking at tiny radios that can't put out any volume and have very limited features.
Pros:
-several inputs provide plenty of options
-radio reception is phenomenal, tons of stations and alot of them come in crystal clear
-button layout is simple and easy to use
-very portable, only about 14" long x 6" high x 8" deep and maybe 4-5 lbs without batteries
-lcd screen lights up with a nice blue display
-has an AUX-in for whatever that can be used for
Cons:
-battery compartment is a bit tight so its a bit of a pain in the butt getting batteries in and out if you do this frequently
-metal screen that covers speakers sticks out a bit to much and makes it too easy to dent the screen if the unit is hit
-the 2 slider buttons that switch the unit between cd/radio/usb etc and Am/FM/stereo are kinda cheap and its best to try and minimize the number of times you handle these buttons. The buttons work ok but they definately have a cheap feel to them.
-bass is a joke
-only moderately loud and only the "jazz" and maybe the "normal" presets provide decent sound and minimal distortion on maximum volume
-radio tuning is analog (which many people prefer digital)
-the +10
I wrote more more cons then pros but I think alot of the cons are just being picky and also alot of them are easy to live with. If less then maybe $60 and considering the features it has I would probably purchase this unit again.
18.) Works for me (better than COBY)
Reviewed by: D. Regan
Rating:
I was looking for a radio/cd player with a USB port for use in an office setting. I originally purchased a COBY MP-CD471, but had to return the unit due to a loud humming noise the unit makes when earphones are used. The NAXA unit was my second choice, and I really wish I had purchased it before the COBY item. Thus far, it has met my expectations in every way. It has USB capabilities, the radio unit works even in an office building where reception is normally poor, and the CD unit is adequate. The speakers are average, but for my purposes, they are acceptable as I am typically using earphones. If there were one improvement I would make, it would be a digital tuner for the radio rather than the old-fashioned `wheel.' Other than that, I am generally happy with the NAXA unit (for my limited purposes).
19.) Well worth the money!
Reviewed by: spockman Houston, TX

What really attracted me was the USB/SD card capabilities, which are far superior to old audio CDs or even MP3 CDs. I've played all the input devices and the radio, and everything works perfectly. Lots of 'BANG' for very little bucks! And, the sound isn't bad at all. Not a 'BOSE', but hey, it's about 1/5 the price, with a heck of a lot more flexibility! Buy it! Only negative is the VERY HIGH S&H costs!

Wanted something to listen to while working in shop/yard. Can download 200+ songs on SD card or 130 or so on MP3 and put on random play. Also has strong radio reception, but non-digital fussy tuner. Overall, I really like this well-priced mini boom box
21.) I compared some similar models so you don't have to
Reviewed by: W. Tetsell

I compared this with 2 other boomboxes in my store. All are near the $50 (w/shipping) price range. Out of the Sony ZSE5 series (the white and colored boomboxes) The NAXA NX-250 and the Cornet BH-426 I found the following.
The NAXA NX-250 sounds the best, somewhat decent bass, though don't expect great bass for less than a hundred bucks
Second in order of performance was the Cornet, with a tinnier sound and less bass than the NAXA. I does look the nicest by far out of the three.
The Sony had by FAR the worst sound. Way worse than the Cornet. No bass, just totally flat mid range.
The radio was hardest to pick up FM on the sony as well. If you can afford it, and Amazon drops the price back to ninety two dollars, the sony CFDG505 CFDG505BLACK DOES sound about 10 times better than even the NAXA NX-250, proving that if sony's low end boombox is j-u-n-k at lest their mid range box is spectacular.
Two other boomboxes to consider (or not)
The JWIN JXCD462DS. Built quality is shoddy, I get lots of these returned, but one interesting thing is that the volume goes nearly twice as loud as any in its league. Strange but true, granted it distorts at its highest volumes.
Also the GPX BCD2306. This thing is horrible, I won't say anything other than the sound is worse that the sony ZSE5. It sounds like its being amplified through a bad telephone. So again, If you can't do yourself the favor of affording the SONY CFDG505, than the NAXA is still the easy winner. And lastly here's a protip: I haven't dealt with CODY in a LONG time, because their products are without a doubt the flimsiest defective cheapest I have come across, even more so than JWIN

25.) Does not have feature to retain same track
Reviewed by: burke
Rating:
I bought it to listen to recorded books as mp3 files on a CD. Many books have 200 or more tracks/files. I learned that every power-off situation requires restart at the beginning, and that hold/pause is unusable for this purpose because (1) it often fails and does power-off, and if not (2) it rapidly depletes the batteries. There just is no track memory and reposition. I would select a track number to start at, but there's no such feature. The "skip 10" works but is clumsy for this. Maybe I should have anticipated this, but little technical info was provided before purchase, and my planned use is probably not common.
The extra high price of shipping and handling deters any return.
I've not used the radio feature.
26.) easy broken piece
Reviewed by: Hong Xiang
Rating:
Got it from DiscountJungle through Amazon, found that for the same CD (regular type, not MP3), sometime the CD player works, sometime it does not. Then the 2nd day we got it, we tried to test the radio reception and tried to fold and unflod the antenna, and broke it easily. I return it for exchange, and still have not got the new one. So it has been a month from the day I first ordered this unit, I only used it for two days and still wait for the replaced unit to come. I don't think it worths the trouble. If you buy it for your little kid, then it probably is o.k. since you don't expect this thing to last long, but definitely not for adults.

If you buy this product for the USB feature you'll be disappointed: after switching the button to USB/Card, insert a USB flash key with mp3 files on it, it doesn't read anything. It doesn't even detect the key.
Other annoying stuff: the off position is in the middle of the selection, you will keep switching from CD to Radio to USB without being able to actually turn it off until you go look at what you're doing carefully.
This same button is not well position (on the side): when you operate it, you will move the device, not the button...
Radio tuner is manual.
This product is inexpensive for good reason: it doesn't work.
